Square Peg, Round Hole: Finding My Place in UAP Research

Lately, I’ve been contemplating a new frontier: diving into the enigmatic world of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) research. It’s a realm that has always intrigued me, but as I consider getting involved, I find myself questioning where I truly fit in.

I’m not exactly the type to dash through the desert at night with night-vision goggles, chasing elusive lights in the sky. Moreover, the phenomenology of experiences has been extensively documented, and geospatial analyses of reported sightings have been thoroughly explored. So, what’s left for someone like me?

To navigate this complex field, I created several interactive mind maps, hoping to visualize the various facets of UAP research. Yet, despite this effort, I still feel like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole.

Reflecting on my background, I’ve spent years delving into consciousness studies, psi research, and the intersection of science and the unexplained. My blog, Psi Hacking, is a testament to this journey, exploring topics from quantum models of psi phenomena to ethical considerations in applied psychic science. Perhaps there’s a bridge between these interests and the current needs in UAP research.

One area that stands out is the integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning in analyzing UAP data. NASA’s report emphasizes the necessity for high-quality data and advanced analytical tools to shift the conversation from sensationalism to science. This aligns with my experience in data analysis and my interest in leveraging AI for complex problem-solving.

Additionally, the field could benefit from interdisciplinary approaches that consider the psychological and sociological aspects of UAP experiences. Understanding the human element—the witnesses, their perceptions, and the cultural context—is crucial. My work in parapsychology and consciousness studies could provide valuable insights here.

In conclusion, while I may not fit the traditional mold of a UAP researcher, there’s a niche for interdisciplinary thinkers who can bridge the gap between hard data and human experience. By leveraging my background in psi research, data analysis, and ethical inquiry, I hope to carve out a unique role in this evolving field.

Note: This post is a reflection of my personal journey and thoughts on entering the field of UAP research. It’s an invitation for dialogue and collaboration with others who feel they might also be square pegs seeking their place in this fascinating domain.
